Rounds on Lakland HB?

Sign in to disble this ad
Folks,

I have a Skyline Hollowbody that has the stock Lakland flats on it and the tone just ain't doin it for me. I'm a flats guy on my P-basses, but on the HB the dubby/thumpy sound is just too much for me - I need a little more zing, but without going the super-sizzly stainless route.

Any people NOT using flats with their HB? What's working for you?

If it helps, the bass sees most of its action with a Wilco/REM sounding band.

I've had success with D'Addario 1/2 rounds on my Lakeland HB and Epi JC Signature. Tonagewise they fall between a flat and round wound string.
