ROUNDS WITH MINIMAL SQUEAK?

Sign in to disble this ad
Aside from turning the tweeter off and a less aggressive hand technique, which roundwounds provide the best slap sound with minimal finger noise/squeak?? Thanks.

Try some Ken smith Compressors, or GHS Pressurewounds.

Try LaBella Slappers, this is the set used by the Johnson Bros. They are wound with a Stainless first winding with a final winding of Nickle plated steel. Hence you retain that great pop a bility with a really good felel of which you will not tier.
At NAMM a few years ago Luis visited our booth and it was Roger Sadowsky that mentioned that Louis Johnson had not stopped playing for the past four hours...Just a talkin, singing, rappin and singing...Thats the measure of a product, and the belif of a pro outstanding at his craft.

I'd too recommend GHS Pressurewounds. If you can still find the original Fender 7250s, then they would work as well.

My Ibanez fretless came with D'Addario EXP coated nickel roundwounds. The coating makes them super smooth for minimal finger noise, but still very bright.

I don't know for certain but I believe GHS Brite Flats are similar to Pressure Wounds other than being Alloy 52 instead of steel. I still found them pretty squeaky on my fretless which was disappointing.
