roundwound 45-105 to flat how to choose the good tension ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello
I play a jazz bass with roundwound string with this string (105-85-65-45)
I want to try flat but don't want to adjust the neck a lot,
What's solution to go flatwound with the minimum of risk ?
is there any relation between gauge and tension ?
Ti ?
Labella ?
Help me please ?
Thanks

Chromes 45-100 should be real close.

But adjusting the truss rod only takes a minute. Educate yourself, its a simple process but you need to know what you are doing. The setup section on TB has plenty of good information and many posters willing to help out.

I like those a lot. Very nice under the fingers.

What's the tension of the Labella 760 FL compared to a medium standard (45-105) roundwound set ?
Flatwound is a good choice for a maple neck ?

No reason to be afraid of your truss rod. You should adjust it once ot twice a year anyway.

I think 760FLs feel a smidge lighter than many 45-105 sets. But I have not seen published tension numbers from Labella. The Sadowsky 45-105s feel a bit more snug. But all of these comments are based on subjective feel.

I found the Chormes to be a lot higher tension than rounds of the same gauge.

Roto flats are about the same as Roto rounds gauge for gauge.

TIs, they ARE low in tension compared to Chromes.
