My round wound strings have a really thin part tword the bridge why is this?
Is it a factory defect or are all round wounds like this?

It could just be "tapered end" strings.

Location: Upstate, South Carolina
Tapered strings are a better fit in saddles that don't have wide enough grooves for the string to fit properly.
