Roundwound tension question.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,
Just a quick question conserning some round wound tension comparisons. I'm thinking of changing the Dadario XL's (45-100) on of my basses to Rotosound Swing bass 66's or Ernie Ball slinkies. I would just like to know how the Rotos and the Slinkies compare in terms of tension to the XL's. My bass has a bit of a truss rod problem and I dont want to set it up again compansating for more or less string tension. I use Roto flats on my other bass(45-105) and was wondering if the tension of the same gage Roto rounds is about the same or notably less. Any info greatly appreciated!
Mario.

The string tension on the RS66's and Hybrid Slinky are comparable to a .045-.065-.080.-.100 set of XL's. Slighty more tension on the E and A (for Slinkies), but, depending on your bass, you may not need to adjust your truss rod.

If they're Normal Slinky, then you may need to make an adjustment. If they're Super Slinky, then it's the exact same as your current strings.
