Hey guys,

I've been using TI jazz flats for about 2 years on my bass, and would like to try half round (groundwound or pressurewound) strings. I really love the TI's, but also love the snappy tone, feel and attack of Rotosound swing bass strings. (I played the swing bass strings for about 3 years on my '72 jazz, but they really tear up my frets )
Is there someone who's got experience with the Rotosound solo bass strings? Can you compare them - soundwise - to the roundwounds?
Thx!

Dries

i just put a set of them on one of my jazz basses yesterday. i like them ALOT. they sound pretty close to a standard SS roundwound (i don't like nickel rounds), only a tiny bit less bright, and they don't eat the frets. their surface has more friction than a SS round does (feels kinda like in between a flat and a round). for me, they're the best semi-roundwound strings.

I suggest strings from the pressurewound family, based on what you want.

Pressurewounds sound more like rounds than groundwounds, to my ears.

I like the GHS Pressurewounds. Smooth feel, very roundwound sound, easy on fretboards.
