I see alot of strings mentioned on these forums but one I never see pop up in any discussion are the S.I.T. RockBrights. This surprises me, while im a big fan of DR's strings I keep going back to the SIT's. Just curious if there are any other S.I.T. fans on here or if I am by myself.

Tried a set of Dunlops last month on all the buzz they've been getting lately, and will be going bact to SIT once they die. I do find myself going back and forth between Rock Brites, and Power Wound though.. |

Nice to see someone else that likes them. They do what they say...stay in tune. I get a long life out of them and have never had a bad string yet! |

| | | | I found out about SIT Powerwound strings last year, and since then I´ve gone through a few the 5-string sets. There´s definetly something special about the SITs that appeal to me, I ca´nt put say exactly what it is, they just feel right! But I have yet to try the RockBrights, can someone please explain the difference in feel, tone, etc? |

| | Vanilla Thunda | | | | | Glad to see there's a few players out there using them. They give me a good all around sound, good quality, long life. I think the rockbrights are a bit brighter than the powerwounds, other than that im not sure of the differences. Best thing of all is they're made in my backyard so they are easy to get. For some reason GC doesnt stock them but my other local shops do.

I played a LowEnd J5 that had SIT Rock Brights... man that was a breath taking combination!. The tone was so clean and crisp. I usually use DR MM sigs but I think I may have to try a set on my J.

I have been playing S.I.T. strings exclusively for over 10 years now. The Power Steels are my personal favorite, and I love the phosphor bronse on my acoustics. I haven't tried thier flats yet.....but I may just grab a couple of sets on my next order.

I wouldn't know whether to pick the Powerwounds or the Rock Brights. There's nothing descriptive there about their sound except they all "project rock tone."
I did used to have an Asian Conklin bass, and it came with the exposed-core SS strings. Man, those things sustained for days, and it was possible to drop the action incredibly low. I didn't know that SIT was the manufacturer behind the Conklin brand. The last couple times I've tried taper cores (recently a set of DR Longnecks) I had the most awful case of wolf tones, especially up the neck... pulled 'em off within 48 hours. I don't remember ever having that problem with the exposed core strings though. Maybe I'll try a set on my Sterling when my DR Fat Beams poop out.

| | | | I for one prefer SIT's to any other string I have tried. DR are second best IMO.
I don't like the spiky treble of stainless. I use the pressure wound nickel set(s) and these have a sweet mid and low mid tone while still having strong fundamental and MORE than enough treble for me. Yes I do slap.
My sweat is very corrosive, and strings do not last for me very long at all. I have noticed that stainless strings start super bright and scooped, then die and become useless in a rapid decline, where the nickel strings just slowly taper off.
Also, when i was a kid and had even less money than I do now, I would boil the strings to restore them. You can do this a couple times, with less effect each time. Stainless would never "recover" as much as the nickel. I am glad I dont do that any more, but it can be a help for po' folk...
Cheers! |

I bought a set from Brian, and has since ordered 3 more sets. I now have them on all of my basses. |
