Sadowsky J5 Strings - Flats? Foderas?

Sign in to disble this ad
The Sadowsky nickels I have on my J5 are great - clear 'B' and very, very even across all strings. No real reason to change.
Except I put Fender flats on my old Fender J4 and liked the feel (never happened before . .).

So now I'm wondering about trying Sadowsky flats but I'm wondering if I'll get similar 'even across strings' and balance?

If I lived and worked in NYC it would be easy to try a few sets out but I have to pay double to get them to Oz.

Also, I played a Fodera4 with nickel lights and loved those strings - totally different to Sadowsky tho'.
Anyone tried Fodera strings on a Sadowsky J5? NYC cocktail!

I've checked out a lot of other threads but couldn't find all I wanted (so no need to moan about look in other threads please).

Any experiences or advise gratefully received chaps.

One thing i've noticed about Sadowsky basses is that tapered strings seem to fit the bridge better. I tried installing a 125 non-tapered B-string and it barely got in there. I think repeated installs will scratch the finish right behind the bridge.
