Sadowsky A string breakage?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone that uses Sadowsky strings had a problem with the A string breaking often? I've broken mine on 3 different basses. They break at the bridge(one bass has had a MIM Jazz bridge, and currently a Gotoh 201, one is a stock Gibson Grabber, and the other is a stock SX bridge that looks like a 201).
I love the Sadowsky strings sound, and thinking of getting a set for my 5 string to see if they're an improvement over the Rotosounds that are currently on there, but the A string is starting to get annoying.
One of the basses has had Sadowsky strings on it exclusively, and never for too long of a period since I'd have to re-string it to record.

Wonder if I'm the only one.

I will say, I have gone through about 10 sets of Sadowsky Bright Nickel 45/65/85/105 sets, and have broken one string that I can remember. It was a D string.

I have only ever broken one string in my life time. I've had a couple of duds though. I have never tried Sadowsky's though.

About 12 sets a year for the last 3 years, no breakage so far.

they've usually broken on me around the 3-5 month mark. old, but not really too old. I usually replace them when I have to boost the treble a significant amount when I slap/pop.

Since I've owned Sadowsky Basses and been using Sadowsky strings (both nickel and stainless) I have not had a string break (two years). My Fender Deluxe didn't break many. But both my Warwick Thumb NT 6 and My Tobias Killer B couldn't get more then about four months out of a set. I'm sure it's a rough spot on the bridge saddle (my guess) that is adding to your string wear.

Roger just replaced two stainless steel sets for me because the A strings were dead.

He was very good about it.
