Sadowsky Strings.. anyone try 'em?

Sign in to disble this ad
Thinking of trying the Sad strings.. in my never ending search for the perfect string... are they produced in-house or does he get them for D'addario or DR or something?

anyone used them? Thoughs? I'm looking for a bright, slap friendly sounding string with lasting power.

Ive tried a pair of their bright nickels. They are a decent string, theres something I dont exactly love about them but I cant put my finger on it; something about the way they feel in general. I used to be a DR man but now I like my Ernie Balls.

I'm hearing good things about Ernie Balls.. which one's you using?

I might try a set..

for some reason I'm finding the D'addario's quite dead sounding after a couple of days play..

I love the Sadowsky strings. If you're a slapper, you'll want the stainless steel. The bright nickels are quite a bit warmer. I believe they are made by LaBella, but they aren't the same as any standard LaBella set.

Either that, or ebay. " My music space" and "quiet storm" are both reliable Sadowsky string sellers, at a few bucks cheaper than direct.

Yup, they should work fine. I used the Nickelbrites on my thru-body fender and they sounded pretty good. My issue was that they didn't come any heavier than a .45 in the G and i was trying to get rid of my dead spot (or at least move it) so i switch to d'addario XLs, which are pretty awesoem for 18 bucks.

I found the D'addario's a bit on the thumpy side for the lack of a better word.. I like that piano sound and I was getting a '51 P-Bass sound..

On a side note.. I like the cool color code on the D'Addario's and I like how the Fenders have the strings ends covered in material which are both nice touches from the standpoint of looks, but both don't have "that sound" There just isn't a perfect string out there.. the best I've found so far was my Optima's on the QMT Deluxe... but those would look kinda silly on a chrome hardware bass.. no?

i've been using the nickels eversince roger slapped on a prototype set on my old PJ-5. IMHO, smoother and more balanced than the D'Addario nickel sound. also, the feel is much nicer, too. compared to my old Labella Slappers, same thing, with the smoother sound and feel.

all in all, my fav nickel string.

The Sadowsky steels that came on my RV5 had a lot of high end, more so than other steels (D'Addario, Ken Smith, La Bella). And they were stiff.

I tried a light gauge set of nickels. The B did not overwhelm me but it was OK. While they are called a bright nickel, I did not find them to be all that bright compared to XLs.
