Thinking of trying the Sad strings.. in my never ending search for the perfect string... are they produced in-house or does he get them for D'addario or DR or something?
anyone used them? Thoughs? I'm looking for a bright, slap friendly sounding string with lasting power. |

They are a decent string, theres something I dont exactly love about them but I cant put my finger on it; something about the way they feel in general. I used to be a DR man but now I like my Ernie Balls. |

I might try a set..
for some reason I'm finding the D'addario's quite dead sounding after a couple of days play.. |

My issue was that they didn't come any heavier than a .45 in the G and i was trying to get rid of my dead spot (or at least move it) so i switch to d'addario XLs, which are pretty awesoem for 18 bucks.

I like that piano sound and I was getting a '51 P-Bass sound..
On a side note.. I like the cool color code on the D'Addario's and I like how the Fenders have the strings ends covered in material which are both nice touches from the standpoint of looks, but both don't have "that sound" There just isn't a perfect string out there.. the best I've found so far was my Optima's on the QMT Deluxe... but those would look kinda silly on a chrome hardware bass.. no? |

IMHO, smoother and more balanced than the D'Addario nickel sound. also, the feel is much nicer, too. compared to my old Labella Slappers, same thing, with the smoother sound and feel.
all in all, my fav nickel string. |

I tried a light gauge set of nickels. The B did not overwhelm me but it was OK. While they are called a bright nickel, I did not find them to be all that bright compared to XLs.
