Hi I play a five string bass, and I was wondering if you guys thought it was safe to play it with every string tuned up a half step, and if that could have any negative long term affects on the instrument. I play in a hardcore/punk band that likes to play in C, and alot of the riffs require i have an open C string. Thanks ahead of time for all your input!

This would be fine. You might have to tweak the truss rod and bridge but I used to do this all the time.

alright thanks, my main worry was that it could damage the instrument, as far as the truss rod and bridge, even tuned like that they are still at a decent height and I don't notice much of a difference in playability, thanks for your answer.

yeah, don't worry, but remember, when the 5th string is C, it's usually that string only, not all the strings

but still, if you wanna do that, shouldn't be something to worry about
