same old strings for 12 months?

yeh so ***, my band aint doing much so i left the same old strings on, Elixirs, i think the nano web coating had rubbed off a while back and they were starting to get fury, yeh fury...must be the guts of the strings starting to come out...lol i thought they were sounding ok still. So yesterday i decided to get a new set and changed them over. First thing i noticed was there was less string vibration, i run a low action which tends to get a bit of buzzing on the next fret down, the new strings stopped this. The amp earthing buzz came back ,which would have been the nano web coating stopping my fingers earthing out on metal, but thats ok.

i always say i should change the strings more often but it aint cheap is it..

12 month old strings to me are brand new and at least 3 years away from having the right mojo!

Agreed - and I say that for both flats AND rounds!

Yeah, I suck, I know that. But at least I suck a little less than I did yesterday.

I have a few basses with at least 5 year old strings. I think I prefer a less brighter tone, so it works for me. If I break a string, I'll change the whole set, to keep a balanced tone, can't stand having one real twangy new sounding string next to a dead one.

I've had the stock elixirs on my Ibanez for over a year now. Still sound good to me although they really are fuzzy as hell. Doesn't get in the way though.
