Strings on a Precision last me longer than strings on a Jazz or PJ. It was the tones of each...basses with more treble emphasis tend to sound duller quicker as the strings age. The first thing to go is the trebly edge, whereas a darker sounding bass doesn't lose that snappy high end because you could never hear it all that well when the strings were new.
Plus in your case, since you see one as more of a slap bass, I'm sure you're slapping on it more than the other, which is hard on strings. |
