I found I absolutely love SIT strings. I've always liked them and used them on at least one bass, but now I don't think I'll use anything else. Here's why:
I was away for eight months, and left behind most of my instrument collection. When I came back just last week, I finally got to play my other basses again. Naturally, they all needed serious amounts of re-tuning. UNTIL.... I came to my Precision, which was the only one strung with SIT's. When I hook up a tuner, nothing was needed. It still held perfect tuning.
Anyone else had similar experiences with S.I.T's?

Back in the day, I used to use various nickel-plated steel strings, but felt they lost their good tone too quickly. So I started using DR lo-riders, which were stainless steel on a hex-core and I really liked that feel, amazing strings but kinda expensive. For almost ten years now, I've been buying my strings from www.juststrings.com, amazing service, amazing selection. I decided to try SIT Powersteels because I noticed that they were stainless steel on a hex-core just like the DR's I was using except they were significantly less expensive and not hand-made. After my first set, that's the only strings I've been using on my basses. Sound awesome, feel awesome, stay in tune. so awesome! |

| | | | Doesn't SIT stand for Stay In Tune? Anyway, Robert DeLeo uses them, so they must be at least decent. |

Although, beyond the strings, I'd think that a major factor is your bass' neck. If it didn't change much in the 8 months, the strings wouldn't have undergone as much stretching.

I have been stringing each and every bass (and guitar) I own with SIT for over 10 years now. My personal favorite are the stainless power wounds, I am shocked at how long they maintain thier "new string" brightness. To be honest I really don't see myself ever using a different string manufacturer.

| | | | I changed over to SIT when I changed over to a Warwick Thumb Bass as that was what Jack Bruce was using on his bass. Warwick now fits SIT strings on all new bases and they do stay in tune.
I like them for all my round wound needs in medium guage 50-105. Very happy with them. |

I've also used their nickel short scale set, one of their 8 strings sets and their inverse wound (compressed) sets. Really great strings at competitive prices. And....they do stay in tune very well. |
