short flats-only e thumps??

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got a set of short flat ghs precisions.
I have(I think) just enough experience to know what is meant by the flat thump. The e gives me a little more thump than I ideally wanted and the other 3 strings are much brighter than I expected. It's such an extreme difference in tone that when I play a descending scale I think I hit a wrong note or forgot to tune the e. (I tuned it with 2 different electronic tuners and the pitch is fine)

This is on a Bronco but I don't think the sh*tty pu is to blame. The tone difference is very evident even 'acoustically'

thanks for any input.

My experience with GHS flats makes me think that the tonal differences will lessen as the strings are played in a bit. Give it a month and see what happens.

You need to break them in first, the strings will even out over time.

Some brands need to even out over time. GHS is one of them.
