Question short scale flats need identification

Sign in to disble this ad
Need some help figuring out what these are, they are old short scale flats with an E string of about .09. They have black silk on both ends, and seem shinier than labella.

Any ideas?

some more measurements, the .09 thing was off.

E <.089
A ~.065
D ~.056
G ~.040

These are some thin strings, and again they are really shiny, almost as shiny as chrome.

I'm not seeing any standard short scale sets with the E being around that size. Could these be a set from a fender bass VI with the other strings thrown out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

La Bellas. They made them specifically for Danelectro in the 50's and 60's, as well as a similar set for the Fender Bass VI.

La Bella still makes the Danelectro set. I think its known as the 760 FD.

Oh, and La Bellas in those sets are pretty shiny.

Your only other choice is maybe a set of Pyramid Golds, but I don't think they came that thin on the E.

Thanks for the reply, I actually re-measured everything using multiple sets of strings and lo and behold the original measurement was actually closest. I was way off on the second measurement, I believe I used an incorrect reference on another set when doing it. The final measurements, after rechecking all of them, ended up at:

E ~.09
A ~.075
D ~.049
G ~<.04

The only strings that are anywhere near those measurements are the rotosound RS77 short scales, which are actually nearly spot on:

E .09
A .075
D: .05
G: .04

I have a set on the way, so I'll know soon enough if they are a match.
