Short-scale Sixstring Longhorn

Hey all!
I bought a Danelectro Baritone in hope of making it into a Danelectro Lonhorn Bass VI, if you know what I'm sayin'.

I heard that you could just swap the strings for D'Addario XL155 which is a set for sixstring bass made especially for Jerry Jones. Now this did not work out for me because the strings were way to long (even though I thought they were made for Longhorn-style basses).

Anyway, is there another basstring manufacturer that I could use? Could I mod the D'Addarios I've already got to make them fit? Lastly could it really be so simple to make the baritone into a Bass VI-type with just a stringchange or do I have to do other mods?

I hope you don't think I'm stupid or anything, I don't really do any thing else with my basses than play and tune them, so converting and modding isn't my strong side, it isn't one of my sides at all.

First make sure that the scale length is 30 inches...

Well, that's the thing, I know the bass is 30 inches and the strings are supposed to be for 30 inch Jerry Jones basses, at least the it says so on them, but they are to long, is there a chance that I have gotten the wrong thing but in the right package? After checking D'Addarios website it says longscale on it although the package for the strings I bought says short-scale…

Also, I have to say, lunarpollen it's thanks to your group here I decided to try this out so now I just want it to work. I was reading alot in your club thread and thought:
"Man, I want to be part of this to (since I already loved old-school sixstrings, one of the coolest instruments ever)."
So I really want to make this work now that I've taken the plunge, you know, so all help I can get is very mush apreciated
