Shouldn't SS strings last longer than nickel ones?

My nickel Lo-Riders retain the zing much longer than my SS Lo-Riders and Hi-Beams. Shouldn't the opposite be true? Or, maybe, my sweat has a peculiar chemical composition...

personally, i think the appeal of ss strings is when you first put them on they're zingier than nickels. after they're broken in, i think generally they sound very similar to nickels, and i don't think the zing lasts particularly longer.
