O.K. I now have more specific (and correct) information on these. It turns out that the E & A have a grass green at the ball end and no silk at the machines; the D & G however, have black at both ends. They sure seem to be of the same make though. Are these perhaps Fender 9050s?

I bought a VM P on Craigslist a few months ago and I've been trying to figure out what kind of strings these are. They are flats, have gray/silver silks at the top, no silk on the ends, and brass balls. The owner said they were TIs but someone else in this thread said TIs have red silks. The silks are a bit frayed, but here's a picture:

Sadowsky may be another option. |

I was digging through a box of old strings & misc. stuff. & there was an old pack of Labella 760FL that I had on an old bass over 10 years ago. Same strings, same gauge. Red silk on windings & no silk on ball ends. Who would have thought the same. Now if I need another I already have it. I still want to try some Chromes.

These came on my L-2500 Trib; they're flats with red silks on the windings and no silk on the ball ends. Potential options I've seen in this thread for that combo include:
TI Jazz flats
Rotosound 77 Jazz Bass Monel flats
Labella flats
others...?
The red color doesn't quite match the Rotos that were posted upthread, but it's possible the lighting was different. Anybody wanna make a positive ID?

I played a fretless today with tapes that had purple silks both at the head and at the bridge.
The owner didn't know what they were but I'd love to try a fresh set, any ideas?
EDIT: never mind I just found out they were most likely labellas.
