Single B String Confusion

Sign in to disble this ad
Here's the story... I ordered a 4 string set of regular gauge D'Addario Chromes on accident. I didn't realize it until I got them in the mail. I have a 5 string bass so I want to get a single Low B String. Does anyone know where they sell those? All I can find is the regular light string and i need a medium one.

juststrings.com should have them. D'Addario makes up to a .145 B-string, so just look a little.

I looked at Just Strings.com and many other places. Everyone that sells them wants too much money IMO for one lousy B string......

It's unfortunate, but it's the world of bass strings. I recommend saving money to buy multiple sets at once and stocking up.

If it makes you feel any better, a set of strings for my 8 cost me just shy of $100.

there is more metal in a b string than any other 2 strings combined, plus it's got extra layer - it's going to be expensive.

I didn't think they made higher than .132 in flats.

Are the Chromes flatwound? I did not know that. I was stating my general knowledge of D'Addario strings and I don't play flatwounds. My bad, my bad.
