Are SIT silencers really silent?

Looking for something a tad bit brighter than Chromes but without the string noise for a 5 string.

I guess SIT silencers are 'compression wound' then?

They seem to have favorable reviews on TB...anyone care to add further comments on them?

I got some D'Addario half rounds, but dont like the tension...too tight.

Yep so silent they make no sound at all Ok... really they are nice i have played them on and off for years. The wrap is a smaller size wire compression wraped and it feels sorta like a round but smooth. They sound almost as bright as rounds but not quite as bright. The noise from your fingers sliding etc is reduced and they last forever as long as you dont want too bright of a tone. I play SIT strings alot they are inexpensive and tuff as nails and last tone wise. The nickel rounds are for my $$ the best around. Silencers are a step below them in sound but not by alot but do feel better than the nickel rounds.I just put a set of Chromes for the first time on my P-bass a month ago and i am in love...those are awsome flats with good tension and bright enough but not to much. Try the silencers i put them on my 4s and 5 and as i said they are great but man i love those Chromes.

Not silent like flats. But smooth enough to reduce the finger and fret noise you may get from standard rounds. As a result you also loose some zing. They are also a bit lower tension than some others (Fender, Roto). A good thing, IMO.
I had them on my ESP 5
As BB said, great strings for the bux.

LOL...no sound at all? Super !

Thanks a million for the feedback. I now have a set of Silencers on order. Yeah...I really do love the Chromes, myself...Just needed something with slightly more zing for a project. I might just have to go get me another bass just so I don't have to swap out!

The Silencers are very smooth to the touch and sound nice. They are very reasonably priced too.
