Been hearing a lot of good things about SIT strings, but nothing definite about string length on non-custom sets.
My question is "Are SIT strings, Power Wounds for example, long enough to stringthrough on a 35" scale bass, like a Lakland 5er?"
Any help, advice, insight, experience, will be appreciated.
Thanks
Bob

I have the Powerwounds on my Ibanez, and they growl real good. About $15. They have an extra long set. You can call, and ask - they are very helpful on the phone: http://www.sitstrings.com/products.php

In the meantime, any other comments?

| | | | I used SITs before switching to TI. For the price, you can't beat them. I used the Nickel Rock Brights and Power Wounds (depending the bass). They sound great and even hold up to a Kahler (Daddarios couldn't withstand one pull, and EBs only lasted a week or so... after allowing them to stretch),
I would think they'd fit. They had a little extra length on the high G on an inline headstock for me, and I believe they make an extra long set.

im wondering the same thing for my lakland 55-02.
itll be much more convenient knowing if they would fit 35" string thru than always having to custom order extra long set to be safe.

Dunno from direct experience.
They're very nice strings. "Bright enough," with a nice fundamental, last reasonably long; good price point.
They were factory issue for Reverend, who put them on 35" scale 5L's...but those weren't string thur.
Also stock on G&L 2500, which are string thru, but, 34" scale...
I've not tried to fit the "Non-SL" to any thing that combined those specs...but, I'm interested in the answer!

only one length listed...

I'm ordering a set of Power Wounds and will try to install them stringthrough. I will report my results to this august body.
Based on the responses received to date (Thanks Everyone!) I think there's a pretty good chance this is going to work, but we shall see.
If worst comes to worst, it's through the bridge...
I continue to welcome information and updates to this thread.
Thanks!

The difference is that the Rock Brights are run through a special process that fuses the wrap to the core better hence removing dead spots and giving more brightness and increased string life (this is one of the things I've heard about the SITs).

(if u want longer, brighter, new strings i mean)

any thoughts on their silencers?
i have used DA half rounds before, as i am not a round-wound-bright kind of guy. i currently have lakland's flats on my 55-02, but i am about to order up some strings and i am looking for something in between.

.045, .065, .080, .100, .125
They will be going on a Lakland 55-01.
I'll post the results as soon as possible.

Stringing through the body didn't work. The B-string started to taper about 1/2" too soon when stringing through.
Stringing through the bridge is fine, however. The strings have plenty of length when going solely through the bridge.
Experiment complete.
