Nothing wrong with that string gauge, it should not impede your slapping. Once your technique gets consistently good, you will be able to slap and pop a variety of gauges.

Metallic sound? More info please?

Thank you for fast reply

about metallic sound, when strings touch frets i get that strange sound like saw "zing" when playing fingerstyle, didn't had this with previous strings.

i change strings first time maybe i did something wrong or it's just normal

That Could be fretbuzz or just the natural twang of new strings. If its becoming a serious issue get it checked out by a guy at your local Guitar shop.

As for strings...

Like said, once you get your technique going, u can slap on anything, man.
Roundwounds, Flatwounds- Different Gauges. It's all about your personal preference for tone. I set my Jazz up with Flats and the slap tone sounds nice and punchy and not to tinny, but some people hate slaping on flats and prefer the brighter roundwound tone.

try a few string types out.

cheers.

That,my friend,is the luscious,yet aggressive,sound of the ever popular,highly-regarded,round-wound sound.....More zing,is a helluva good thing.

Yeah, that's what I thought he might be talking about too, the pure and perfect growl and harmonic-infused sound of a new set of roundwounds. Bliss.

Or string buzz. The opposite of bliss.

gauges doesn't really matter... its a matter of personal preference IMHO..
I use Ernie Ball Extra Slinky 40-95 on my Fender Jazz... and it sounds way better than the stock 7250ML..

oh one more thing... i think stainless would sound brighter like listening to marcus miller tracks... and nickel plated steel (GHS Boomers) on Flea's slap sound.. as for Mark King i think he uses Rotosound Funk Master 30-90
