Slight chorus sound

I just threw some fender flats on my p copy. Really digging them, but on the A and especially the E, I am getting a hint of a chorus sound when I let them sustain. Is this just new string sound on a flat, or are they screwy?

Does this happen all across the string or mainly in the higher registers?

Mainly the open note, and it is gone by the 4th fret

Hmm...I've heard of the oppopsite happening, especially from the 12th fret up. Pickups set too close to the string and taperwound strings can cause that, but down low....I'm stumped.

It could just be that I am hearing the new string zing sound funny. In 17 years of playing, I've never owned a set of flats. I'll just go eat some fried chicken and take care of it I guess.

same thing happened to me. your strings are twisted. i fixed the problem by taking the problem strings off at the peg and running the string through my fingers to straiten it out. hope this helps..

Sounds like your picking up sympathetic vibrations on your other strings. Try muting the top three strings with one hand and plucking loudly on the open E... your chorussy sound might go away.

Also, try lowering your pickups like others have mentioned. If it still does this report back and I might have another suggestion/ questions.

I've had this happen as well. To fix, don't hand wind your exess string length around the post, pull all tension by turning the tuner itself.
