Slightly used flats on a new bass setup, intonation problems?
I have been working on a long term fretless customization and it's almost done. I bought Thomastik Infeld flatwounds over a year ago, with the intent of putting them on this fretless bass when it's finally finished.
I put them on my fretted Deluxe Jaguar for a short period of time to check out the tone, and now I am wondering if I will have any problems intonating them on the fretless bass (with a Badass Bass II bridge).
I recently read that it's not easy to intonate with old strings. I read a detail that it's actually grime getting into the strings with roundwounds, that effects the pitch of used strings, causing intonation problems. It seems like flatwounds don't have that problem as much because the winding is different.
Will putting these flatwounds on and adjusting the intonation be impossible?
