Which is the most malleable string you have used?
TIs? Sunbeams?
Flat, round, I don't care, just tell me which one has been the softest and rubberiest for you!
Thanks |

Have you played these 2 sets? Has anyone? Can you A/B them?
Thanks! |

The TIs out slinky the DRs by a mile, IMHO. TI rounds have quite a bit less tension than Sunbeams. DR SBs are brighter, if that's important to you. |

Between the TI flat and round, which one is slinkier?
Thanks! |

Thanks! | Jazz Rounds (JR344s) is the answer to both questions. |

So, TI flats and DR sunbeams, tension comparison would be....
(Thanks for your patience in answering all these questions) |

I wouldn't dismiss the TI rounds so quickly just because the gauges are small. Not great for really digging in... they respond better to a lighter touch for sure, but are very dynamic and musical, and perfectly balanced from string to string - TI has obviously spent some time researching their string gauges. Plus the way they feel to your fingertips is unlike any string I've ever played. They define "slinky" for me.
I have them on a '66 Jazz and love them on that bass. I just ordered a 5 string set for my new Sadowsky fretless - I think they're going to be amazing on that bass too.
Anyway, I like all 3 of those choices for different applications. They're all really nice strings. |

So, in your estimation, the SLINKIEST strings you've ever encountered (in order) are:
1. TI Rounds
2. TI Flats
3. Sunbeams

yes, pretty much. My DRs are 45-100, but my sadowsky 5 string wears 40-125. Those have a bit less tension again. |

But I FULLY endorse TI Jazz rounds - I have used those strings and am pretty sure I'm going to put them back on my P-bass. They are so smooth and easy to play, and get great huge sound.
