Like what? An aluminum or steely smell is normal with new strings. They'll smell like blood only if you're crazy. Beer if you play in bars. You if you rub them...

I'll stop there

I cant explain what they smell like, but its a wierd smell. I've had these strings for about 5 or 6 months and they smell like the strings that I had for about a year on my old bass.

If your nose is that close to the strings you might want to lower your strap a bit buddy

After a week or 2 of gigs new strings on my bass smell like sweat, beer, and above all else, ciggarette smoke. It's disgusting. But I live with it. A change of strings might help also...

I think that's a giveaway that you need to change them!!

Remember, kids... shammy whipping should only be done under adult supervision.
