Question Smith Compressed vs. Chromes (alternative to TI's) for fretless 5

Sign in to disble this ad
I keep seeing these three names come up in the forums quite a bit for using on a fretless bass but I'm not thrilled about spending $65 for a set of TI 5's that cost nearly half the price of my SX fretless J-bass.

Looking for mwaw but also would like to be able to dial in bright when I need it for occasional slap or pop and I would like something that's not going to go dead after 3 or 4 gigs.

Is this too much to expect? Suggestions?

TIA,

I had a set of chromes, pretty bright. I've never used the Smiths though.

TIA,
I have used TI Flats on my fretless for a couple of years, I loved them but wanted something a little more aggressive. in live situations. I switched to Ken Smith Compressors and they fit the bill just perfect. They can be quite brite, but are some what smooth on the outer wrap. A nice balance IMHO
