SMOOTHNESS: Groundwound? Roundwound? WHATWOUND?

Sign in to disble this ad
hi!

I'm a Rotosound swing 66 user, and i like the sound I get once they break in... past the harnesh. I hardly ever change strings... maybe every 6-10 months, and i have a small issue: The rotos feel extremly rough to touch now and then, i guess it has to do with sweat or whatever...

Anyway, i wanted strings with similar tension and tone but with extra smothness... Any hints?

Thanks.

try flat wounds for a smooth almost dead string sound that doesnt go away.

I have flats in my fretless, but I dont want the boomines, plus I want some bite now and then, like when i play chords with a pick.

So I guess im looking for smooth and durable strings... maybe groundwounds?

I dont want coated strings since they get "hairy" when they wear off...

I've been getting my basses set-up recently and they put Earnie Ball strings on, seems like a cross between flats and ground round(chuck!)...they don't tear up your fingers and they sound like they will last a while..............

Only Elixers. DR coated strings do not do this, and they come in an assortment of colors

Ken Smith "Compressors"
Smooth feel.
Tone some ware between flats, and nickel rounds.
Last a long time, once they break in.
I dig them on my P-Bass. But not as much on my Jazz Bass.
DR-Sunbeams are my strings for my Jazz Bass.
