So apparently Ernie Ball makes guitar strings too...

Cruising my local Craig's List for cheap gear, I stumbled on a guy selling new sets of Ernie Ball bass strings really cheaply. No five string sets, just four or six. Well, I play a five string, so I figure I'll just get the six string and ditch the extra, and at this price I'll got for the bulk discount. We set up a time to meet, and it's a little sketchy. Dark parking lot at night, that sort of thing. We meet up and the guy is laying his rap on me, and I'm just trying to keep an eye on him and count to make sure there are enough packages. I hand over the money and scoot.

I get home to look at my prize, and realize that they aren't six string bass sets, just six string guitar. So..... anyone want six sets of Ernie Ball guitar strings (3 extra slinky, 3 hybrid slinky)? How much do they usually go for anyway, I've never bought guitar strings before.

Most places sell Ernie Ball guitar strings for about 8 bucks a pack.

Dude. You got RIPPED OFF. Did you not notice the smaller packages? And that the string sizes are smaller? I'm sorry this just seems like common sense. Sorry about your misfortune dude.

Well, in my defense...

1. I'm an utter newb: these are the first strings I've ever bought.

2. I was more worried about making sure the guy didn't jump me than I was about the finer details of the product.

8 BUCKS??? You must mean 8 bucks for 3 packs? If not, you need to shop elsewhere. You shouldn't be paying more than $4 a pack.

Parking lot was just a place near where both of us (apparently) live. And it's Craig's List, you really think I'm gonna invite someone over to the house? As for supporting thievery, I can only hope you're joking.

Well the way you describe it, it sounds more like a drug deal or someone selling crappy stereo speakers on the street than buying strings.

Well since you are a noob, I'll say this: Look at strings like tires on your car, get a good set and plan for a flat(pun?).

Really, Juststrings dot com has almost every string there is....if you are on a super budget, keep an eye out on TB..people are really good about posting blowouts on strings. You obviously can get online, so just order what you need so you don't get killed.

Jimmy's right, it sounds like you just had to take your shirt off to be on an episode of "cops".

"bad boys bad boys...what you gonna do..."
