So I've been a long time DR hibeam fan and obviously I'd be interested in a black set of hibeams, but all over talkbass i seem to get extremely positive reviews saying that the strings last 3-5 times longer than the normal hibeams and the black coming undone doesnt seem to be a problem, then i get extremely negative reviews from people who dont notice a difference in the longevity of them and that the black comes off in a couple hours. Does the black really slip off just like that? I like to think i play aggressive so should i just stick to normal hibeams or are these worth trying out? |

I've tried the DR Extras and I personally found them to last only slightly longer then my normal Hi-Beams or La Bellas, so I didn't like the cost:life ratio not to mention the fact that not everyone carries the Extras, which my main curse in liking my La Bella strings also. |

I play mostly fingerstyle, and the coating showed wear around one month where my right hand touched the strings, and wear of the coating where the string touched the frets in a week. |

But I like like SS strings, they're great but not bright enough for me. |

| | | | I setup my new bass with all black hardware to match, so I'm committed to them for life ahaha. I like how they feel on your fingertips, smooth like butter. And they made my active sound a lot more passive and thumpy, which was a good thing. |

I play with my fingers and I notice that there are little specs where the coating is knocked off. really the only problem I have is I do chords, predominately on the bottom 2 strings, and that knocks the coating off fairly quick and it did kill them shortly there after. My last set I had on for about 3 months and they were dead as hell.
