They sound like dead rounds. I've heard recordings of people playing Rage songs on a P-bass with Chomes. With the tone turned up most people wouldn't know the difference.

Pretty cool once you get the right tone. Not better or worse than rounds, just different. When jamming with loud guitars I usually prefer rounds so I can be heard better.

| | | I dont understand why alot of players think that flats cant cut thru the mix, just take a listen to the clash, old Joe Jackson, etc. its a more FILLING tone if you ask me.
I don't want my BASS to sound like a guitar, |

The bass tone is mellow compared to newer punk but never really struck me as flat. It just fits the sound of The Clash. Anything can cut through in a proper mix, espcially a studio. The problem is jamming with loud guitarists and hard hitting drummers. All those ear bleeding high frequencies.

| | | | Why try to complete with all those high freqs, like guitars and cymbals when there is a huge gap,...
Thats where the chest fluttering thick bass comes in. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
