Question sound of R. Coccos + tension of Laklands

Hey there,

i hope to get some advice from you on a topic that's bugging me.
Here it comes:

I play a Lakland Skyline JO4 and a JO5. On these basses i really like the feel (especially the tension) of Lakland Stainless Steels, but i have the impression that these are lacking the very full and solid sound of R. Coccos or Rotosound 66s.
I'm even more concerned when it comes to the string's articulation. While the R. Coccos seems very onpoint and accented, the Laklands are giving a much more boomy sound most notable in the lower registers.

Did some of you had similar problems and solved them?
Did you find a string that combines the lower tension of Lakland SS (in example) with the directness and tonal accuracy of R. Coccos (in example)?

I'm very curious on you input. Thanks in advance :-)

Well I have not yet gone thru R.Cocco's but I have gone thru various DR guages and styles and other strings so I can at least give maybe a smidgen of help.

I prefer the GHS Laklands. They're not by far my favorite, but on my Lakland they seem to work the best. Long Necks and Marcus strings on the Lakland I dont like..even if they are the same tension, they feel sloppy and I am now sick of sloppy strings. Even 45's from DR and others can feel loose and cheap on that bass.

Also, theres a gaping hole in the midrange with the Long Neck DR's I put on. There was bottom and top but NO middle and I got that middle with Blue Steels and Ernie Balls of all strings.

Just finished a blues fest tour this weekend and I am restocking the GHS Laklands. I have yet to find a string for that bass that is better balanced in tension and tone. even though I prefer a longer lasting and less SS feeling string. I HATE SR 2000's!!! My fingers stick on those.
