Does anyone know of an active source for Labella's Mustang-Specific (760FL-MUS) flat-wounds? Elderly's back-ordered indefinitely and no one else that I can find has them listed at all. Any assistance (even if you've seen them in your local shop recently) is appreciated. Thanks.

| | | | I wasn't aware that La Bella made flats suitable for through body loading.
I use GHS on mine. |

| | | They appear to have been a limited run in 2009 and are not listed in their current catalog. Maybe interest here would encourage them to make them again; maybe not.
That same catalog suggests that they have or will make all of their long-scale 760F's in a thru-body version. Quote:
Thru-Body Flat Wound String
(Available in all of the above sets)
La Bella Strings introduces the first successful flat wound bass
string meant specifically for electric basses where the strings
pass through the body.
These flat wound bass strings are specially designed for
instruments with string openings through the body. This design
adds a unique resonance as the strings pass through the solid
wooden body and over the bridge from underneath. With this
configuration, the resulting sharp angle located at the bridge can cause the flat wound outer wrap to crack, fray or break with standard strings. To avoid any damage to the string. La Bella
Strings has engineered a durable yet flexible section near the
ball-end. Both the string and great sound remain intact.

| | | | Wouldn't those be too long for a Mustang? 32" strings work fine, but 34" scares me. |

| | | | I think so too. Just thought it was interesting because all of their flats used to carry the thru-body warning.

The E string is silkwrapped at the ball end, the rest is plain.
Highly recommended!
