Spector ReBop 4 String - Best Strings for this Bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All,

Enjoying this site. LEarning a lot. What would be a great string for this bass? It has the EMG Hz with Tone Pump setup. I play a mix of rock and r&B-funk. I use DR BB's on my other basses, but the spector has inherently scooped mids. What would be a punchy string in your opinions? Thanks...

hey man, i play the ReBop 5 and i have DR Highbeams on it. I love my strings to death haha. The only other string i'll recommend is Dunlop. Fantastic strings and great bang for ur buck, definitely give them a try

DR's are what I would recommend as well. I use them on my Spector Custom which has the same pickups, and they sound great.

I had one of those. That pickup and eq combination is really scooped, isn't it? Hard to put mids back in there.

I had light gauge flats on mine for a while: GHS Precision Flats. They helped put some mids back that the eq took out.

The boost only EQ, Tonepump circuit, and the HZ pickups are going to make your life miserable. I suggest removing them and putting the Active EMG pu's in there as soon as you can. I did this on my basses and it helped TREMENDOUSLY!

Stay away from D'Addario Strings, a lot of highs and low end without much midrange. SIT and Ken Smith both make a midrange present string.
