Question SRINGS FROM ONE BASS TO ANOTHER

cuznbubba is asking can i take the thomastic flat wounds off of my warwick fretless corvette and put them on my fretted covette with out any problems with winding breakage ect.

Generally speaking it will be fine. I've done it many times. There's always the possibility of one instance where a string got stressed too much somewhere along the line, and it breaks, but usually that's not a big concern.

my strings are on a constant rotation cycle. they go new on the first one, then to the second, then to the third. then every time i buy new strings, the rotation happens again. been this way for a year, no problems yet. i love my elixer nanowebs.

Th thicker the string the more careful you need to be. Breaks in the windings occur most frequently at the crimp and the string break on the E string or a low B if you're using one.
You may not always see it, but you can hear it.

I go back and forth with strings. Sometime I put the olds one back on or use them on another bass. Most of my strings don't get used that hard.
