SRV's bassman

Sign in to disble this ad
ok it has been documented that Stevie Ray Vaughn tuned flat ala Jimmie Hendrix (at least on `number one'/i know he had other strats),but i've saved several vids for the bassman's work,,,,,so my question is=if SRV is tuned flat then his bassman is tuned???(drumroll here)>>>

pal and i got into a discussion about drop tuning so there's a cold winter ale involved in this,i say he also used a drop tune of some sort, pal plays everything Standard and preaches~ standard~ all day long every day

I believe Tommy Shannon tuned down too. The song "Crossfire" (I think, never paid that much attention to SRV) is in Eb and he's using the open 4th string.

SRV tuned down a half step, so his open E string would have been an E flat. Tommy Shannon tuned down a half step as well.

If he played a 5 string he wouldn't have needed to downtune.

Unless he wanted to pedal open E flats.

A lot of songs are easier downtuned than on a 5 string, heck, I usually downtune my 5 strings.....
