Stainless 5-string roundwounds with Lime/Chartreuse silks?

Sign in to disble this ad
Definitely Stainless based on the color compared to my normal nickle strings.

Lime/Chartreuse silks on the tuner end of strings.

B-string is tapered.

Gold balls on ends.

Curious what they are... At some point they were on some bass I bought or traded for. I just put them on a 5-string carvin and they sound pretty damn good.

Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure I already saw a similar set, but can't help you. I'm really curious though.

IIRC MTD strings, but the silk wrapping was by FAR cleaner than the one in the picture

Cleaner?

Note... these were used strings that have been wound up and sitting in a box for a year or more. The silks on them are frayed and in poorer shape than a new set of strings. I just wanted to hear how steels sounded on this bass, and I liked them, so am wondering what they are because I haven't seen this lime/chartreuse silk before.

Don't Dean Markley strings have yellow/green silks?

I know MTD strings do, but I think they are more on the yellow side than your pic.

depends on the string. sr2000s have yellow silks, while blue steels have gray.

These are definitely Lime'y more than Yellow. They're a bit greener in the photo than in real life, but definitely not a traditional yellow.

Edit:
Actually... they look a LOT like this photo on Perfect Bass.

But not so much like this which are more yellow...

So it's probably just lighting and photos. There's no way these strings are old enough to be Trace Elliot's. I'm going to assume they're MTD's. The used set I put on ARE 35" Scale strings and I put them on a 34" scale bass so the B string is longer than needed, so the MTD's would be a very good guess where they're 35" scale basses.

I'm going to move forward that my question has been answered. Enough so at least for my need.

Feel free to banter on if warranted.
