I am so fickle when it comes to strings! This thread made me try a set of 7350M's on one of my '62 AV RI's. Just strung 'em up tonight and played for about an hour and a half. They really need to break in as they are pretty noisy but I am stoked to see how they compare to the '57 pickups. I did like the 7250's a ton and I may put them back but I will give these stainless jobs a few weeks first. Not sure if the truss rod will need tweaked but it looks OK so far (after all of three hours! Ha!).
The thing I love about string changes is that it is a whole lot cheaper than buying another bass! LOL

Works well for me. I was using DR High Beams before that were pretty nice and before that the Rotos (a bit rough...)

I'll use this bass tomorrow night w/my long-lost garage punk/funk band Phat Side Down. We'll do Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols, some originals from our wish-we-were-the RHCPs days & a few classic rockers(Steve Miller, etc). The Precision through my D-180 w/fresh Rotos- purely awesome.

| | | | I was using Rotosound Swing 66 for years..
Now, DR Lo Riders and DR Hi Beam stainless steel. IMO, they sound better than Rotos! |

Lo Riders have a touch more tension and are a pretty traditional SS round. Fat Beams are supposed to sound a little fuller than Hi Beams. I have SS Lo Riders on an American Jazz bass, and Fat Beams on my Ric 4003.

dr lowriders are great for low action basses thanks to there hex core, gives em higher tension |

The DR Highbeams not only have great bite, but they are low tension and easier on frets then most SS rounds. It's the only round I use. And, they sound great on my P bass.

While changing strings i also repcaed the Hipshot bridge w/a more original-looking Fender type unit. I'm liking this bass more & more. |
