Stainless vs Nickel

Can't remember if I ever used nickel roundwounds...but I seem to hear an awful lot about them.

If you use them, how would you compare them to stainless steel from a tonal perspective???

Ive used both and like nickel best. They sound similar to me, but mostly the nickel feel better in my hand. The stainless may have an advantage on the slap, but if you ask Wooten he may disagree.

Nickel aren't quite as bright as stainless.

You should really just do a search - there's tons of stuff out there on this. But I definitely prefer nickel. Feels better and sounds better in my opinion.

Nickel tends to be a little warmer sounding. Though Ive played some nickel strings that are brighter sounding then some steel strings.

^ Try some D'Adds Prosteels; they're cheaper, pretty bright, and a little less harsh on the fingers.

SIT Powerwounds are fairly bright, nice sounding nickel rounds.

You might try Sunbeams. They are essentially nickel Hi-Beams.

I did not like roundwound steel on my electric, but they're ok on my acoustic.
