Steve Harris P with Rounds

I just purchased the Steve Harris P. Great instrument. It came with Those SH signature "tension wire" flats. I took them off after the initial "out of the MF box" jam. I installed EB Super Slinks. I usually like flats on a P but I'm feeling rounds. The Slinks are okay, but I find myself back in the market for a good round (For my P. It's a little punchier than the avg. P). Most importantly, one that sounds good on a P.
Disclaimer: Sorry if this thread has been done (I searched)
I know, "its subjective."
I know, Slinky's suck. (Not really)
I know "it's what sounds good to my ears."
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm actually excited to match strings for this bass. P Lovers...Asssemmmmble!

I usually play Chromes flats on my Pbass but did try DR Sunbeams for about 6 months and loved them.

In order least bright to most bright, in my experience:

Fender Pure Nickels

GHS Boomers

Sunbeams

Hi Beams

Rotos

La Bella Steels

Can't go wrong with any of them, just a matter of preference. All sound great on a P.

I bet Sunbeams would be killer on a P.

Try the Rotosound RS66 set. Let the bass sit out on a stand for a few days as you play the strings in. Mine last forever too. The tone knob is your friend.

As always YRMV.

I think you'll be happy.

I really like D'Addario nickels on my P's. They sound great, they last a long time, and they're dirt cheap.

My PJ will never have anything but DR Hi- Beams on it, nothing else hits the right balance of aggressive/smooth/nice.

Peace,
Greg

Rotosound pressure wounds. They don't eat your frets like the Swingbass and sound good out of the box and really, really good after about a year.

By the way, does anyone know why Harris uses flats in the first place? Seems an odd choice for an aggressive metal bassist.
