Sticky, tight strings?

So a problem has come up with my Epiphone EB-3 bass. The strings I currently have on it feel very sticky and stiff, but the strings aren't very old at all. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

The stickiness goes away after a day or two of solid playing.
