String bass combo that im thinking on.

would this combo have the silky tone im looking for, or would it just be pointless?

All I can say is that you won't know until you try it. It does look promising. I'd put GHS Brite flats or Precision flats on it myself. A set of TI Jazz Flats would be cool as well.
When that bass comes out again the headstock will be different, naturally.
