String broke, what strings do you recomend for my issue?

Sign in to disble this ad
I own a Ibanez Gio GSR205 bass and have been playing for only a few months. I don't know anything about bass other then playing them and the musical theory that I was able to transfer over from my music theory class, so hopefully someone on here can answer my question.

I play in a deathcore band that plays in Drop B (B, F#, B, E, G#, C#). My bass has 5 strings so for me to play in Drop B, I have to tune everything other than my top B string up a few halfsteps. Well, after doing this for a while, my 4th string (G in standard, G# in Drop B) snapped after trying to tune it back up from standard. So, my question is, what strings would be better to play a bit above standard tuning? I'm not asking for a brand, but more of a size.

I found that the strings currently on my bass are as follows:
B - .130
E - .105
A - .085
D - .065
G - .045

I'd appreciate any help and I'm sorry if I sound idiotic with my question due to lack of knowledge, but I signed up here to learn so hopefully I'll, one day, be able to answer some questions

Thank you for taking time to read my post and have a great day.

I'd suggest a set that is something like;

.136 .093 .068 .049 .035

I sell sets in these gauges, but if you are inclined to buy singles (you will be very hard pressed to find sets gauged like this) then round to the nearest .005.

Gotta agree with knucklehead on this one. .45 is too thick for your uses.
