String choice for Alembic Epic?

Sign in to disble this ad
I own an Alembic Epic 4 string. The problem is that i think the sound is a bit like i hear it through a wall. I don't know if that is the tone of the bass or maybe i could make it more clear an defined with some other strings. i don't remeber what kind i have on it now or in the past. the amps i have used is aguilar db 750, ampeg svt3pro, ebs session 60 combo and an eden navigator preamp. I would like to have som sugestions for different materials and thickness.

greetings from norway!

The epic I had sounded muddy too. It may be a design feature, I don't know.

I own 2 Epics and haved owned a total of 4. I do not find them muddy at all. In fact, just the opposite. I was using DR and Curt Mangan strings. Last year, Bruce Hall suggested Dean Markley Blue Steel. I tried them and they sound great. Give them a try. If you are still not happy and decide you want to sell the Epic, send me a PM. I might be interested.
