Sign in to disble this ad
New to bass and have a Hohner B2B headless coming. Any recommendations for string choice? I know zip about bass other than skanking style playing on my guitar, which is kinds bass-like.
thanks, bobbyd

The classic, traditional reggae string is flats, really old flats. Heavy Fender or La Bella flats on a Jazz Bass is probably the best archetype. So buy a set of flats and get started on making them old.

I think you'll find lots of different ideas as to the best choice for reggae sounding strings. It depends on the band, and the sound you want.

Labella makes double ball flats, great for reggae. I'm biased as I love the sound of flats for reggae, and I prefer the '70s reggae bas tones in general.

I had a set on a Steinie L2 and they were extremely powerful sounding and tamed the beast somewhat for a nice warm but clear tone. They would sound awesome on the Hohner, too.
