| String Dilemma - I can't make up my mind!

The background: Let me begin, I'm the guy who never changes my bass strings, ever. Every bass I own(ed) except for my Rickenbacker (because the strings were literally caked with dirt when I bought it) and my past Schecter Stiletto Custom 4 (because I needed to play in C std and it had light gauge on) has never seen a string change at my hands. Oh, also an old MIM P-Deluxe did once. Stock strings to Fender flat's which I (regrettably) threw away after two weeks because I hated their tone so much. It had generic light gauge after that. The bass and purpose: I picked up a stock Highway 1 P Bass (tonight) in a trade, and I want to use it for my pop punk band. It's going to be played hard and aggressively and I want some serious punch from it. I'll be using a pick and fingers, whatever I feel like at the time. I play root notes when appropriate but I'm a popular bassist / turn to because I can keep time and I'm known for my (sometimes too often fast paced) counter melodies. My brain hurts: Off of the top of my head, I was thinking of trying some Roto 66's because they treated my Ric very well. But, my P Bass isn't a Ric and I'm a string amateur. I also D'Addario Chrome flats, but for what I will do with this bass, they seem like the epitome of what I don't need. However, I adore their strings for my guitars.
I don't know, I need help, pointed in the right direction, and a taco. Why a taco? Because I'm hungry, dammit! |
