String gauges for drop b tuning

Sign in to disble this ad
hey guys, i play in a prog metalcore band and i play a 5 string olp mm3 in drop b(b-f#-b-e-a). just looking for a set of strings that will be able to handle the stress of uptuning while still retaining the b strings strenth. right now i've got a pair of ernie ball extra slinkies on it and things are just too sloppy. i also prefer tapered strings. any suggestions?

Go with a .135 untapered B sting, and a light guage set for the others. I just went to a .135 on all my B strings, and it definitely tighter than the tapered version of the same string. So get a light guage 4 string set from DR,D"Addarrio,Elixer, and a single .135 B string. Juststrings sells individual strings so you can mix and match as you like.
