string help for a new bassist

Ive had my bass for year and i think its time to change the stock strings, although they are nice i think theyre elixirs. i play an ibanez iceman ICB300 ex

i like to play technical death metal, metal, etc, all that stuff. so can someone help me with picking strings and what guages to use? ive heard good things about DR but i dont know what kind to choose from with all the types. thanks in advance.

Strings are tuff to get advices on, IMO. For me, string gauge is more important that string brand. So if I were you I would find a the gauge you are most comfortible with, then start looking through brands if you want.

I'd say DR Lo Rider steels. They start off super bright and growly, and mellow out to be very bright and just as growly. If you're playing E or Eb, use 45-105. If you're down tuning D or C, use 50-110. If you're down tuning B or lower, use 45-130 (just don't use the G string).

alright thanks. i was looking mainly for guages so that helped a lot.
