String identification help - (sorry)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All,

I know these string identification posts are tedious, but I have been searching for week now and can not come up with a definitive identification of a set of strings that are on a used bass I just purchased. They are a fantastic match to the bass and I want to be able to buy a back up set.

Last week, I was lucky enough to land a fantastic Rickenbacker 4003 bass (MY2003). It is strung with a set of round wounds that feel like steel rather than nickel. The ends of the strings at the tuners are wrapped in a silver or gray silk. The bridge ends have no silk and are terminated in chrome plated (as opposed to brass or colored) ferrules. I have attached pictures below.

Does anyone have any idea what these might be? I know they are not Rotosounds, DRs or Fender strings. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Russ

Blue Steels are the only strings I have personally used that look like that, but I'm sure maurilio is right about the other options as well.

Thanks

Maurillo and 4-string,

Thanks a lot for your fast response. I'll check out the GHS first.

Again, I appreciate the help.

Cheers,

Russ
